• Parents Can Track Student Lunch Purchases

Troy, NC – A new technology available to Montgomery County Schools allows parents to track what their children are purchasing in the school cafeteria as well as make online prepayments.

The Internet website www.k12paymentcenter.com provides access to a 90-day history of what students are buying for breakfast and lunch.  For a $10.00 ONE-TIME FEE, parents get a premium service that includes 24/7 secure access to their student’s meal history, as well as the ability to prepay for school meals. There is not a one-time fee if parents choose basic service.  Basic service is prepayments only.  When parents make payments, there is a  $1.95 flat fee per payment charge to cover the cost of processing the credit card transaction.

Montgomery County Schools School Nutrition Services, a non-profit operation employing approximately 60 people, operates 11 cafeterias serving over 5000 meals per day – approximately 2000 breakfasts and 3500 lunches.  MCS operates the National School Lunch Program and the National School Breakfast Program in all of our schools.  In conjunction with providing healthy, nutritious meals at a reasonable cost, MCS provides nutrition education for students as they seek to introduce students to healthier mealtime choices for a better way of life.

The www.k12paymentcenter.com website was developed by Education Management Systems, Inc., a K-12 administrative software company headquartered in Wilmington, North Carolina.  EMS develops, distributes, and supports school accounting and food service management software in schools throughout the United States.
