Welcome Letter
Dear Parents, Community Members, and Friends:
Montgomery County Schools (MCS) is a community of lifelong learners and leaders. It is my honor to serve and lead the heart of Montgomery County-MCS. We believe in continuous improvement as evidenced by our implementation of the Plan-Do-Study-Act Model throughout the district. Our four-year cohort graduation rate was a historically high-92%. Students continue to earn college credit via College and Career Promise courses offered through North Carolina Community Colleges and Advanced Placement Courses through the Collegeboard. Via Career and Technical Education, our students have access to work-based learning opportunities, internships, apprenticeships, student leadership opportunities; scholarships for post-secondary, industry-recognized credentials, and course credit through articulation agreements. We have maintained a one-to-one digital initiative for students in grades K-12 and we continue to collaborate with external agencies to secure funding to support our mission. In addition, participation in Montgomery County Early College and the Montgomery County Virtual Education (MoVE) Program is increasing and providing innovative learning opportunities to meet the needs of our diverse student populations.
This success is the direct result of a deep commitment on the part of the Board of Education, district-supports, teachers, principals, students, parents and effective community partners. Thank you! Key goals include increasing the numbers of students performing successfully on academic and technical measures, closing the achievement gap, graduating students ready for college and careers, and utilizing technology to provide students with the skill-set needed to contribute to our global society.
