A Message From Dr. Karen Roseboro, Superintendent

I am deeply honored and absolutely thrilled to serve as the Superintendent of Montgomery County Schools (MCS). My family and I are excited to officially join the Montgomery County community and look forward to building strong, lasting relationships here.

I am eager to bring my diverse experience in school turnaround, curriculum, and instruction to this role. I look forward to collaborating with our school and district leaders, dedicated educators, support staff, and families to elevate student outcomes.

My commitment is to cultivate positive learning environments where every student has access to a high-quality education that prepares them not only for college and careers, but for life! By partnering with all stakeholders, we will ensure Montgomery County Schools provides golden opportunities for all!


About Dr. Roseboro

I have enjoyed a long and distinguished career in public education, spanning more than 25 years in North Carolina.

Most recently, I served as the Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for Anson County Schools. Prior to that, I had the privilege of serving as the Superintendent of Tyrrell County Schools.

My earlier leadership roles in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools included:

  • Chief of Choice and Magnet Schools

  • Area Superintendent for School Turnaround

  • Priority Schools Coordinator

  • Principal

I also served as a principal in the Iredell-Statesville Schools district. My career began in the classroom as a middle school special education teacher in Davidson County Schools and a high school history teacher in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.


Educational Background

I hold a strong academic background that supports my professional experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in History from East Carolina University

  • Master’s degree in Education Administration from Gardner-Webb University

  • Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Wingate University

I am committed to collaborative leadership and look forward to working with everyone to continue the great work of this district.
