I.  NC Public Schools Will Produce Globally Competitive Students

 

  • Mt. Gilead Elementary – Student Led Classrooms - Several students from Mt. Gilead Elementary presented to the Board, discussing student led classrooms.

  • Montgomery County Schools State Ranking –  (Enclosure 7)Dale Ellis, Ben Grindstaff - The ranking for MCS was presented to the Board.
  • Midyear Review Date – (Enclosure 8) – Dale Ellis Action Item - The Board will decide the date of the midyear review at a later time.

  • Cell Phones Update – (Enclosure 9)Dale Ellis - Dr. Ellis presented feedback on the cell phone policy to the Board.  They gave him recommendations for an updated policy and he will bring a draft to them at a later time.

V. Leadership Will Guide Innovation in NC Public Schools
 

  • Calendar Update – (Enclosure 10)Dale Ellis - Four versions of the 2012-13 calendar will be presented to the Board in January.

·         Montgomery County Sales Tax Update – (Enclosure 11)Dale Ellis - Dr. Ellis gave a quarter-cent sales tax update to the Board.  MCS will start receiving money starting April 1, 2012.

·         Montgomery County Schools Redistricting Update – (Enclosure 12)Dale Ellis - Dr. Ellis gave a redistricting update to the Board.

 VI. Superintendent’s Remarks

 

·         Dale Ellis - During his superintendent's remarks, Dr. Ellis updated the Board on the presentation he is presenting at all schools for faculty/staff - the presentations are going very well.
