BackPack Pals Program

BackPack Pals Program

The Backpack Pals Program, sponsored by Communities In Schools of Montgomery County, aims to help children who face food insecurity.

In Montgomery County, a large percentage of students rely on free or reduced-cost lunch programs for their daily meals. To address this issue, the program sends bags filled with food home on Fridays to identified students whose parents or guardians have given their consent. Local volunteers pack and deliver the bags to the schools.

Studies show that Backpack Pals programs positively affect student behavior, attendance, and academic achievement. The program aligns with the mission of CISMC to alleviate hunger and support student success.
