FAQs

Q: How do I submit a work order for issues with my device?
A: Go to 1to1plus.com/login/Montgomery_NC and use your Google login credentials.  Once you are logged in then use the create ticket option and follow the prompts.  The work order will be assigned to the technician for your school.

Q: How do I get my smart phone or personal device connected to the school's WiFi?
A:  Please put in a workorder to receive a password and instructions for your device.

Q: Why won't my e-mail go through?
A:  1.  Double-check the address.  Make sure it's correct and that there aren't any spaces anywhere.  Make sure your period isn't a comma.
2.  Are there attachments?  You can only send or receive up to 10mb worth of attachments.  File size will be in parentheses next to the file name of the attachment.  [1024kb = 1mb]
3.  Is it "stuck" in your outbox?  You might need to delete the message entirely, exit Outlook, start it up again, and then start a new message.
4.  Are you sending it to more than one person?  Semi-colons work best to separate multiple e-mail addresses in Outlook.
5.  It may be something beyond our control on the receiving end of the e-mail.

Q:  I received an e-mail requesting my username and password.  Is this legitimate?
A:  The Technology Department will NEVER send you an e-mail asking for your username and password.  If you receive an e-mail that asks for your username or password--or gives you a link to follow—do not click it.  This is called “phishing” and is a technique identity thieves love to use.  Never give out your password, especially if you use the same password for other accounts!  If you’re unsure, contact someone with the company by telephone.

For Example:  NCSECU
Here’s some information that NCSECU warns about bank scams. https://www.ncsecu.org/Security/CurrentThreats.html
You may get phished from what seems to be your bank, from the Tech Dept. or even from Facebook.

So what do I do?
Just delete those e-mails.  If you want to avoid receiving e-mails in your inbox from that particular name or e-mail address, you can set your e-mail account up to send those e-mails directly to your Junk e-mail folder.  Then all you have to do is empty your junk folder periodically.

Technique
  1. Right click on the message and point to “Junk e-mail”
  2. Left click on “Add Sender to blocked senders list”.

The next time you restart Outlook, that “rule” will be in place and everything from that specific e-mail address or with that sender’s name will go to the Junk E-mail folder.  NOTE:  Some spammers/phishers will continue to send the same e-mail from a different address and/or username.  The best you can do if that’s the case is just keep ignoring and deleting those messages.

By the Way
You can use this same method to keep e-mails from specific contacts from getting sent to your junk e-mail folder.  After step 1, choose one of the two options to add that e-mail to the safe senders list.

Q:  I receive a lot of e-mails from people claiming to be administrators for "our company".  How can I tell if they are legitimate.
A:  All e-mails coming from the MCS Technology Department are sent either from an employee's regular e-mail account or from MCS Tech Support only.  When in doubt--check the domain it is being sent from.  The domain is everything after the @ sign and should be @montgomery.k12.nc.us if it is.

Q:  My computer won't work.  I can't connect to the Internet.  I don't see anything on my screen.  etc.  What do I do?
A:  First, try to restart the computer.  Check to be sure all cables are connected properly. If these steps do not work, please put in a work order for the issue.

Q:  What if outlet power isn't working correctly?
A:  Please see someone in the school office who will put in a work order with the Maintenance Department.
