My name is Leslie Shoffner, and I teach English at Montgomery Central High School. I am an avid fan of traveling, shopping, reading, walking, and sleeping. On many occasions, I have enjoyed a Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime show binge. I have an Australian Shepherd named Cooper. I love exploring new places across the world. When I cannot travel physically, I allow myself to be carried away by a novel or short story. I believe that every experience with a new place or culture can revolutionize a mind. In 2018, I led a trip to Italy and Greece with a group of students. This past July, I toured Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and England. I have also traveled to several cities in the Caribbean, including Nassau, Punta Cana, Roatan, George Town (Grand Caymen), Ocho Rios, and others.
I am a proud graduate of West Montgomery High School, and this is my eleventh year of teaching. I graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Management and Society and a minor in English Literature. After working in other industries, I transitioned to teaching in 2012. In 2019, I became a National Board certified teacher. You will always find my loyalty and heart belong to UNC! Go TAR HEELS!
