    West Middle School offers 11 different ways to participate as a Student-Athlete.

     

    Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade are eligible to participate.

     

    Fall Sports: Cheerleading, Cross Country (Co-ed), Football (6th-grade students are ineligible to participate in football) and Volleyball

    Winter Sports: Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, and Wrestling

    Spring Sports: Baseball, Co-ed Soccer, Softball, and Co-Ed Tennis

     

        To participate in school-sponsored athletics, they must meet the following criteria:

    In grades six, seven and eight, the student must pass at least one less course than the number required core courses each semester.

     

    A student shall not participate on a sixth, seventh or eighth-grade team if the student becomes 15 years of age on or before August 31 of that school year.

     

    A player must have attended school at least 85% of the previous semester.

     

    Student and Parent/Legal Guardian shall read, initial, sign, and return the Student-Athlete & Parent/Legal Guardian Concussion Information Sheet before beginning participation in practice or participating in an interscholastic athletic contest. 

     

    A student must receive a medical examination once every 365 days by a duly licensed physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant.
