• Attendance Appeals

After three (3) unexcused absences within any grading period, a letter shall be completed by the NCWISE operator in order to inform the parent(s)/guardian(s) of the absences, and to notify them that eight (8) absences shall constitute failure for the grading period in which the absences occur.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in the attendance appeals process at the end of the semester. They must provide evidence of extenuating circumstances with documentation (i.e. doctor’s notes, subpoenas) that will verify that absences were beyond the student’s control in order for the Principal or the appeals committee to consider allowing course credit. Appeal procedures are announced before the end of each semester so that students can prepare and make an appointment to be heard.
