Montgomery County Schools accepts responsibility for educating its students at the highest levels possible as reflected in our vision and mission statements.

High Expectations, High Ethical Standards, Student-Centered, Continuous Improvement, Data-Driven, and Inclusive Practices - serves as the core values of the system.

Woven throughout the vision, mission, and core values is the belief that ALL children can learn and be successful in life. The data-driven decision-making process used by the system, the comprehensive District Strategic Plan and aligned Schools Improvement Plans that contain SMART goals, and the Professional Learning Communities model implemented in all schools help the system inch closer to realizing its mission and vision.

To fulfill the vision and mission of the school system, the Montgomery County Board of Education and Montgomery County Schools staff members have developed a strategic plan for the purpose of addressing critical issues facing our school system and the plan is reflective of our understanding that our students need to be highly skilled to compete in today's global economy and our belief that responsibility for learning is shared with family and community.

Montgomery County Schools wants to increase the recruitment and retention of highly qualified teachers and administrators. Upon the recruitment and retention of highly qualified workers, the school system wants to bridge achievement gaps and increase the graduation rate by setting high expectations for all students. Montgomery County wants its schools to be child-centered, safe, orderly, and inviting. It will take the help of the community and the support of businesses to help obtain these goals.
