Governor Roy Cooper recently declared a state of emergency for North Carolina to help limit the spread of the COVID – 19, also known as the coronavirus. This will have several immediate effects on our school district. These actions are in effect at the close of business, Friday, March 13, 2020, until further notice. Any travel scheduled for today is approved and any travel planned after today will be impacted by the guidelines below. Please make appropriate plans as necessary.
Our number one priority will always be the safety of our students and staff. In response to guidance from the Governor and health officials, Montgomery County Schools will adhere to the following:
- All out of county travel for staff will be suspended.
- All out of county field trips for students will be suspended.
- All athletic events will be suspended, based on guidance from the NCHSAA.
- Principals will set up an isolated area in the school if a parent needs to visit with their child. No outside visitors will be allowed access to the interior of our schools or a child who is not their own.
This guidance is subject to change based on updated information from local and state health officials.
We encourage everyone to continue to regularly use proper handwashing techniques and to follow the recommended health tips provided by the NC Department of Health and Human Services.
