Thursday, January 16

  1. Report Cards went home yesterday.  Please be sure to sign into seminar to receive your report card.
  2. MCEC will host a Hot Cocoa Bar tomorrow morning.  Hot Cocoa $1.  All proceeds go to So You Think Your School Rocks.
  3. Interested in Golf? Sign up in the office.
  4. MCEC will host a Voter Registration Drive on Thursday, January 23 during lunch.  Stop by if you will turn 18 by November 3, 2020.
  5. Next week, MCEC will not have school on Monday, January 20; however - Tuesday and Wednesday, January 21 – 22 Early College students will have class.  Students will be riding their alternate bus route since the traditional schools are not in session. Please see the front office if you have questions about your alternate route.
  6. UNC Project Uplift application is open now for current high school juniors. The application for Project Uplift: https://go.unc.edu/ProjectUplift is due by February 1 at 11:59pm EST.  See Mrs. Pratt or New if you have any questions.
  7. Do you know someone who has been an advocate for the African American community in Montgomery County? Honor them for their contributions to the African American community and Montgomery County as a whole by submitting a nomination for MCEC’s Phoenix in Flight Award.  Nominations are due by February 21.  Stop by the office for a nomination form or see Dr. Seawell. 
  8. MCC is seeking volunteers to assist with the 2020 MLK challenge on January 20th to do something that will impact hungry families in Montgomery County. If you are available to volunteer, please email Dr. Seawell and plan to be at MCC at 8:00 AM on Monday, January 20.

  2. Sophomores – UNC North Carolina Renaissance applications are now available. The application for NC Renaissance: https://go.unc.edu/NCRenaissance is due by March 1 at 11:59pm EST.  See Mrs. Pratt or Mrs. New if you have any questions.
  3. Attention Beta Club Members:  If you are interested in helping with the MCEC Math Olympiad, please sign up at the following link.  The Olympiad will be held on January 31. (For 11th graders/ACT prep)

  1. Seniors - Have you gotten a college, military, or job acceptance yet? Please continue to forward to Ms. New as you get them.  Congratulations to these Phoenix students who received acceptance letters!
  2. Seniors - For any colleges that you apply to, you will need to request your Montgomery Community College transcript directly from MCC.

  3. 19-20 Yearbooks are on sale NOW – Only $20 until January 20th See Mrs. Beane if you have any questions.
  4. All juniors and seniors must remember to sign in to seminar class daily.  You will be marked absent if you fail to sign in.  Flex privileges will be revoked for repeated absences.
  5. ALL students must remember to check their MCS and MCC email accounts daily.  See a teacher if you have any questions.
  6. Reminder – Students are not permitted in building 100 unless they have class.  DO NOT WALK ON HALL 1, 2 or 3 in building 100 as you leave the basketball court. Basketball privileges will be revoked if students cannot adhere to this rule.

  1. All Sophomores will have a mandatory meeting at 12:15 on Monday, January 13, in the auditorium (RM 105). This is to begin scheduling for the 2020-2021 school year.  If you have a conflict, please see Mrs. New.
