Thursday, January 17

  1. Be sure and complete the Superlative Survey!
  2. Prom meeting today at 12:40!!!
  3. There is no school on January 21.  MCEC WILL have school on Tuesday, January 22. You will be riding your alternative bus route.  (Traditional schools are not in session).  If you have moved and need to make changes to the bus you rode when school first started, please let the office know ASAP.
  4. Freshmen CIS class schedule this week is as follows:  This is a little different than last week!

  1. MCEC’s PPP will be selling Valentine’s Day Carnation Grams for only $2.  Stop by the office to buy your carnation gram for your friends or teachers!  The homeroom that purchases the most Carnation Grams will win a pizza party from the PPP on Feb 18!
  2. Yearbook Staff - All students who have worked on The Odyssey this year, please report to the steps of 200 building on Wednesday, January 23rd at 12:15 to take a group photo. We will have a brief yearbook club meeting following the picture for those who are still working on their pages.
  3. 35 days until the ACT.  Juniors – During seminars continue work on your ACT Gradpoint course, complete college and career exploration activities, and review your transcript with Mrs. New.  Please let Dr. Seawell know if you have any questions.
  4. Any juniors that are interested in volunteering at Candor Elementary, please let Dr. Seawell know.  Candor Elementary is looking for juniors who would like to volunteer in their classrooms. 
  5. If any student is interested in earning credit for a class by Credit by Demonstrated Mastery, please see Dr. Seawell. Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) is an option for obtaining high school course credit for standard level courses in North Carolina. CDM is the process by which a local school system shall be based upon a body-of-evidence, award a student credit in a particular high school course without requiring the student to complete classroom instruction. To earn credit for a high school course and by-pass the seat time requirements, students shall demonstrate mastery for the course through a two-phase process.  In the past students have completed this process for courses such as Spanish I, as well as other high school courses. To learn more about this process, please see Dr. Seawell.
  6. Last Friday a student misplaced their Beats headphones.  If you have found them, please let Dr. Seawell know.  There is a reward for finding!
  7. Yearbooks are on sale now!  See Mrs. Beane to purchase your yearbook.  Only $20 until January 18th.  MCEC yearbooks are hardcover, full color, and 56 pages.
  1. Attention Juniors: Prom details are getting finalized.  Mark your calendar for March 30. Please see your junior class SGA representatives or Mrs. Hare for details!
  2. Students, please remember that no student is allowed in the parking lot without permission. 
  3. Did you know that MCEC has hot spots available for check-out?  Don’t miss out on doing your assignments because you do not have internet at home.  See Mrs. Buchman in the office to check one out for the night or reserve one for future use.

Attention Juniors!:  Have you been practicing for the ACT?  February 20this a month away! Don’t forget you have access to the GradPoint course.  See Dr. Seawell if you need your login or password.  Completion of the course will grant you a high school credit and greatly improve your ACT Score.
